Easy Easter Craft for all ages

You will see a theme most of my crafts; and that is simplicity. I want it to be enjoyable for the kids and something they can actually do. The pride they get when they get to really take the lead on a craft is so special!

That leads me to my first Easter craft, this is so simple and the kids loved it!

Supplies:

I first had them help me role out some model magic with a large rolling pin. This was a good lesson in taking turns because they sure loved getting to help! Then I separated the model magic evenly so they each got their own chunk and had them use easter cookie cutouts to cutout the shape they wanted (They each got to do two). I then set aside the cutouts to so they could start drying and let the kids play with the left over model magic.

Once the model magic dried for a few hours, I got out all of the paint and supplies and let the kids paint them however they liked! I had mixed colors beforehand to make easter colors and put out all of the supplies they are able to paint with. This included paint brushes, a paper towel roll, sponges, and monster trucks.

After they are done just let them dry and that is it! Set them out for easter decorations or gift them to a grandparent for the holiday!

Simple Toddler-Friendly Valentine’s Craft

This is a quick and easy Valentine’s Day craft that my two-year-old loved and I am so excited to display in my house!

Supplies:

Keep in mind this list of supplies includes things I think would be fun or helpful; however, these painting supplies are not needed. Work with what you have or let your child be creative and choose what they prefer to paint with. (My son’s favorite painting utensil is monster trucks!)

For this activity, I simply cut out hearts of varied sizes on cardstock and taped them to a canvas.

I then got a piece of cardboard and put all the paint out on that and collected the painting utensils. If you notice the name of my blog is “Wild Child Crafts,” this was most definitely inspired by my son. I have had to adapt how I want to do crafts with him, as he simply is just not interested in getting handed a paintbrush or only getting to have his hand painted and stamped on a canvas. For my wild little man that is not enjoyable, he wants to have fun with the paint. He uses his hands, monster trucks, sponges, paintbrushes, and any other fun utensil I can produce at the time. Giving him options of how to paint and letting him take control has made crafts much more enjoyable for him, and that is really the whole point of them! So, let them take control and do it their way, even if this is not how you envisioned it.

After I let him go to town with paint and he is satisfied with his work, I let the canvas dry and peel the hearts off. That’s it, so simple, yet so cute, and something I will set out for every Valentine’s Day.

Bonus Tip: I also saved all the hearts I had removed since they were also painted over. I made my son a gift bag for his Valentine’s gift and added the hearts in with the tissue paper. He LOVED it and was so proud of them, even hauling them around in his Tonka truck after.

Welcome, Wild Child

My name is Rylie Nelson, a twenty-six-year-old mom to a two-year-old little boy named Knox, and currently twenty-five weeks pregnant with my second baby boy. I got married in August to my husband, Aaron, and I am currently getting my associate degree in digital marketing. While others dreamed of their lavish careers and world travels, my biggest dream in life was always to be a mom. While I have other hobbies and passions, nothing compares to the love and passion I have for my children. After being a stay-at-home mom for the past year and half, I felt the need to go back to work and contribute financially to our family. Furthermore, I wanted to find a career that not only could provide income but would also allow me to use some of my other passions, while still being able to be with my children. After searching and searching for a job that would check all the boxes, I was very discouraged. Then it finally came to me; I could start an in-home daycare. Before having my son, I had worked for HeadStart in a preschool room for five years, so going back to working with children felt like the perfect fit for me. But through daycare I would be able to be able to be with my children every day. I started thinking of all the ways this would fit me; I would get to use the creative side of my brain by doing different crafts/projects, and I could start using things I have learned while getting my degree by doing affiliate marketing on the side. CHECK, CHECK, and CHECK! Then along came the idea to start up a blog; a place where I could share all these adventures. I want to focus largely on the different crafts and activities I do with the kiddos; however, I also want this to be a place where I can share everything from organization hacks, snack ideas, to my go-to products.

That said, I want to officially share my first easy and fun craft with you. This was a Valentine’s themed craft that I did with my son. It was a hit!
